A jew must infuse G-dliness in to his portion of the world. This will have an effect on the world as a whole, for each portion of the world includes within itself the entire world at large. And in this manner, a person can fulfill our Sages’ directive, “each and every person is obligated to say, “The world was created for me.”
For by fulfilling the intent associated with this individual portion of the world, he can bring the entire world to a state of fulfillment. Through experiencing a personal redemption, and expressing that redemption in every aspect of his conduct, each person can hasten the coming of the Geula in the world at large.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Shabbos Parshas Pinchas 5751

Hayom Yom, Gimmel Elul

A person who believes in Hashgacha Protis knows that “the steps of a man are made firm by Hashem” A person goes to a particular place because his soul must refine and perfect something there. For hundreds of years, or even from the very beginning of creation, the object that must be refined or rectified waits for that soul to come and do that task.

Similarly, this soul itself, from the moment of its emanation and creation, awaits the time that it will descend to the physical world to refine and perfect that which has been assigned to it.

The commonly used phrase is “chelko Baolam” his share in the world.
